MUMIA HEALTH UPDATE BLOG INTRODUCTION

2.22.24

Welcome to the Mumia Health Update Blog.

The Mumia movement is just one part of the larger movement to free all our political prisoners and to engage in the campaign to LIBERATE OUR ELDERS. Mumia's freedom is our freedom. As Mumia's medical consultant, I know that one of the most powerful medicines for Mumia is to help support you to be effective advocates.

Principles of this blog:

1. Lets Take Care of Ourselves- Time on a blog is time away from nature, human relationships. We need to work together

2.  We want to meet you where you are at:

  • This blog will give you opportunities to take a range of actions that fit your needs. Talking points will be provided to support
      • phone numbers to call- 10 minutes or less
      • Letters to write- 30-60 minutes
      • Emails to send- through government portals or direct email addresses
      • I will find ways to do trainings on engaging institutions in a coordinated messaging

3. We want to allow your creative spirit to be expressed to institutional power. As Mama Pam and Mama Julia remind us: This is a LOVE STORY- Mumia's love for us in radical resistance to oppression and our love for him.

  • We encourage you to speak of your love for Mumia and all our elder prisoners
  • We encourage you to include Poetry and to include the voices and art of our prisoners and elders

4.  We want to you to share your communications with us so we can track and celebrate your work.

  •  You can copy your communications to champion@peacethecoalition.com
  • We are a part of living history-I have been invited by Brown University regarding submission of materials to the Voices of Mass Incarceration Archives events such as an upcoming arts exhibit that can link this blog for others to take action
  • We can explore how to post communications for us to share with eachother

5. Finally, I will be using this blog to link to historical documents and primary and secondary sources (court documents, international organizations positions, articles, Professional Association position papers, links to other sites and media programs). I will be reaching out to ask for your help in this effort. This blog will become a centralized site to address the larger issues of

  • Effectively Reporting Institutional Elder Abuse of Elder Prisoners
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination to Address Medical, Legal, Mental Health, Social Work, Clergy, Ethical, Academic,
  • Bringing the Voices of Our Incarcerated Elders Forward as we do with Prison Radio

If this looks interesting, welcome and please follow this blog

Thank You for being in Love Not Phear
